A big thank you goes out to all of the organizers and volunteers  that helped pitch in for the Annual Tree Planting Day in Essa this year.  The event was a huge success, and could not have been done so quickly if not for the overwhelming support of the community pitching in to help out.  Fun was had by all!!  (Click to see photos).

The purpose of the annual tree planting is to help restore the riverbanks in Essa Township and assist in beautifying the parks, trails and properties that we call home.  

The 2012 spring pick-up is scheduled for the week of May 28, 2012.  Please ensure that your yard waste and/or brush is at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of that week.  The municipality strongly urges residents to utilize this service - don't dump your waste in our parks or on our roadways, as violators will 
be fined.

Watering restrictions for lawns, gardens and car washing are in effect from May 15th to September 30th each calendar year.  Even numbered properties 
are permitted to water on even calendar numbered days ONLY between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Odd numbered properties are permitted to water 

on odd numbered calendar days ONLY between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.  These measures are necessary for ensuring that the municipality has an adequate supply of water for domestic use, fire protection and emergency services.

The Township of Essa would like to thank all residents and businesses for their participation in Earth Hour on March 31, 2012.  Congratulations are in order for local residents and businesses located in Thornton, as they reduced their energy consumption by a whopping 28% (as reported by PowerStream).

The Parks and Recreation Department is working hard on trying to shape your healthy community so that it fits your needs.  Residents are encouraged to provide suggestions, ideas and comments to our Recreation Programmer/Coordinator regarding our Township programs, services, parks and facilities.  Your feedback is greatly appreciated!  

Here is a listing of suggested topics that we would like to hear from you on.

In 2011, the municipality conducted a transit feasibility study with residents in order to determine whether there was a need for transit service in Essa.  As a result of this study, Council and Staff are now working diligently towards the development of such a transit system for Essa residents to enjoy.
